Project Manager

 

General Characteristics

Perform Project Management functions over various midstream oil and gas projects. Functions include developing and tracking project cost estimates, developing and tracking project schedules, acting as the main point of contact for Kahuna clients, overseeing the engineering and design team to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and in accordance with sound engineering judgment, oversight of all project communications including during construction, and developing project reports as requested. Project types include but are not limited to: natural gas gathering pipelines, natural gas compressor stations, natural gas treating, dehydration, NGL recovery, fractionation, liquids handling, liquids storage, measurement, and site utilities. This position will report to the Director, Project Management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Kahuna Partner / Director, Project Management regarding the status of projects
  • Acts as the main contact between Kahuna and the client on the project. 
  • Tracks project metrics (schedule and costs) to report to the client throughout the project.
  • Prioritizes execution and tracks the completion of project deliverables.
  • Understands the midstream gas processes enough that they can develop a block flow diagram and what equipment is required to fulfill the project goals.
  • Communicates with the client on a regular basis to ensure a clear understanding of current project status, critical path items, changes in scope, and cost and schedule impacts.
  • Provides direction to project team staff on priorities and ensures timely decisions are made to meet the project schedule.
  • Organizes and manages project documents in an effective manner.
  • Develops project tools to identify project strategy and direction.
  • Develops project labor specifications for bidding purposes, ability to host bid specification meetings with client and contractor, ability to evaluate contractor bids and provide recommendations to the client.
  • Works with contractors to make sure they understand the expected scope and are meeting the project schedule.
  • Work closely with Kahuna onsite field staff, as applicable, to solve construction problems, provide updates on procured equipment and materials, and track contractor progress.
  • Verifies procured items are on track and fits within the project schedule.
  • Prepares the project purchasing strategy document and maintains ongoing support.
  • Helps with developing project economics for the various project options.
  • Ongoing communication with Peers/Client/Vendors as needed to effectively complete the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in an engineering discipline (chemical or mechanical preferred).
  • 5 years of experience in a Project Manager role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong work ethic and willing to travel to field/project locations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to quickly react to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to direct and manage engineering and design team members.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Experience with all the MS Office programs including some experience with MS Project.
