General Characteristics: Proactively perform more advanced electrical design for midstream oil and gas projects independently and under the direction of experienced electrical designers and engineers. Project assignments will include designing electrical, instrument and control drawings. Will report to Manager, Electrical Designer.



  • Able to annotate and layout more complex electrical, instrument and control drawings using pre-developed tools with limited direction from experienced designers and engineers.
  • Ability to assist with and review drawings of other less experienced designers and markup as necessary to represent a functional design with limited direction from experienced designers and engineers.
  • Ability to do more complex 3D modeling using pre-developed tools with some direction from experienced designers.
  • Independently to lead electrical, instrument and control design portion of small projects.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory.
  • Demonstrate full understanding of the workflow from beginning to end of a project.
  • Coordinates with other design teams to ensure continuous flow of information concerning other engineering disciplines affecting the design execution of a project.
  • Demonstrate ability to functionally communicate technical and administrative project/task details, including correspondence via emails and general documentation.
  • Organize and prepare drawings for delivery maintaining security and confidentiality in a timely manner.
  • Understand and be able to operate Navisworks Freedom/Manage/Simulate, allowing for basic integration between engineering and design, and lead model reviews as necessary for assigned projects.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior around clients and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required experience:

  • Must be a self-starter with initiative, hard worker who can work with some guidance from experienced designers and as a member of a team.
  • Must be detailed oriented; precise and organized in handling of drawings.
  • Solid organizational skills required; must be able to prioritize and multitask.
  • Typically has 3-6 years of progressive design experience or equivalent; 2 years minimum required.
  • Community college and drafting/CAD courses preferred.
  • Broad computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD®, Bluebeam Revu.
